Architectural Photography – Seeing the light!
Using light when photographing people is a very common and widely accepted practice however, did you know that using light to photograph interior spaces of your home is even more important?
When using light to brighten interior spaces of residential estates you transform a room from a cold dark space to a warm and inviting place for people to live. As a result, a prospective buyer’s eye tends to linger on a photograph a bit longer which in turn results in more showings; the ultimate goal of every photograph we take!
Using light also allows us to capture those beautiful views from your kitchen window that you love so much about your house. The color scheme you have chosen to paint the interior walls just POP off the image and are color true, viewed exactly how you intended! It creates light, bright and tack sharp images free from color defects and anomalies.
It takes significantly more time and money to photograph a home using this method however, it is a critical component to every interior photo shoot performed at Matlock Real Estate Group! It is all part of our “no short cut” approach to marketing, which is a huge part of what makes us unique!
Bottom line, if your home was photographed without the use of lighting equipment, do not accept it. Demand better, demand the best! It may cost your agent more money but at the end of the day they work for you!
Below are examples of this very idea in practice – Identical photographs however one was photographed using light, the other was not! It is not hard to see the difference lighting the space makes. One is cold and dark, the other, warm and inviting. Now ask yourself, which house would you want to go see?!
In the future I will be doing short segments on how we actually light each home we shoot. This will be kind of a peek behind the curtain of an actual shoot of one of our listings. Check back soon!
