Three schools serve students from K-4th grade: Hart Elementary, Puster Elementary and Lovejoy Elementary. All students are offered physical education, art and music programs in addition to their primary subjects, and after school programs include art, STEM and chess club.
Students in 5th and 6th grade attend Sloan Creek Intermediate School in Fairview, and STEM courses are available for everyone. 5th graders are offered general music and visual arts., and 6th graders may participate in band, orchestra, choir or visual art. Gifted and talented courses include math, English language arts and reading (ELAR), and history. Sixth grade students may also enroll in a gifted and talented science course.
Students in 7th and 8th grade attend Willow Springs Middle School in Lucas where they are given the opportunity to enroll in award-winning academic, fine arts (theater, dance, orchestra, color guard, band and art) and athletic programs. Students may also take Project Lead the Way engineering classes, computer science, robotics and Pre-AP (Pre-Advanced Placement) courses.
Lovejoy High School offers over 25 Advanced Placement (AP) courses for students including those in Physics, Art and Spanish as well as nearly one dozen STEM and Project Lead the Way engineering courses. Students also have the opportunity to participate in many sports and fine arts programs such as dance, band, choir, orchestra, theater, sculpture, ceramics and painting.
Lovejoy ISD was recently ranked #2 in performance on the State of Texas Assessment of Academic Readiness (STAAR) exam out of 1,217 school districts. Lovejoy also ranked as one of the top 500 US high schools by U.S. News and World Report from 2012-2016 and ranked 238 in 2017 out of almost 20,000 high schools. The district is a two-time winner of the prestigious UIL Lone Star Cup and the State of Texas HEB Excellence in Education award. In the middle of 2018, Lovejoy ISD was ranked third in Texas out of over 1,000 districts by SchoolDigger, which calculates their rating based on test scores from the Texas Education Agency.
The majority of Lovejoy students graduate from high school with a semester to a full year of college courses already completed, potentially saving families thousands of dollars in college tuition and allowing each child to complete their college education up to one year sooner. In layman’s terms, a family of four that each graduates with a full year of college under their belt, has instantly saved the equivalent of a full college education!
